In 2016 the memorial plaque in the name of the priest of Lithuanian descent Father Mykolas Ĺ ostakas was unveiled in the church of Lady of Mount Carmel and St. Joseph in Varapuzha, Kerala. Known to the locals as Father Florencijus, he lived and worked in this parish for 22 years (1751-1773), and was burried there. For the unveiling ceremony the parishioners, under the leadership of their spiritual leader Father Prasad, have organized a big celebration, which was attended in large numbers by the locals. The holy mass was held during which the parishioners got to learn more about the life and service of Mykolas Ĺ ostakas in their parish and about Lithuania and India relations.
