Ambassador Diana Mickevičienė presented credentials to the Honourable President of Maldives
On the 8th of July, Ambassador of Lithuania to the Maldives, Diana Mickevičienė, presented the Letter of Credence to the President of the Republic of Maldives, Mohamed Muizzu, and became the first ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania accredited to the Maldives.
President Muizzu welcomed Ambassador D. Mickevičienė to her new position and wished her a good tour of duty as Lithuanian Ambassador to Maldives. Both indicated a need to strengthen and develop bilateral relations and cooperation, notably in high technology and toursim.
Ambassador D. Mickevičienė thanked President Muizzu for accepting her Letter of Credence as the new Lithuanian Ambassador to Bangladesh.: “I am honored to serve Lithuania in Bangladesh and will strive to strengthen further and broaden our partnership. Especially high-tech cooperation and expertise that Lithuania can offer would expand new avenues and strengthen the existing Lithuanian cyber security, IT presence in Maldives”.
Ambassador D. Mickevičienė met with Moosa Zameer, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives. The main discussion was on the strengthening of bilateral diplomatic and political cooperation and economic promotion between the two countries.
In addition, Ambassador Diana Mickevičienė met with Mr. Ibrahim Latheef, National Security Advisor of the Maldives, also Mr. Ali Shareef, Special Envoy of the Maldives for the fight against climate change, and with Mr. Hassan Hussain Shihab, interim director of the European Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives. The ambassador, together with the Honorary Consul of Lithuania in the Maldives, Hassan Maahee Ahmed Maniku, inaugurated the first Honorary Consulate of Lithuania in the Maldives.
