AMBASSADOR OF LITHUANIA TO INDIA HAS PRESENTED CREDENTIALS TO THE PRESIDENT OF INDIA
On May 9 the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania H.E. Mr. Laimonas Talat-Kelpša presented his letters of credence to H.E. Mr. Pranab Mukherjee. In the meeting that took place after the ceremony of presentation of credentials the President and the Ambassador discussed ways of further strengthening the relations between Lithuania and India. The President noted with satisfaction that the legal basis for cooperation between Lithuania and India has been already established. He thanked Lithuania for her support to India in intenational fora. Ambassador stressed close cultural ties between Lithuania and India, and the increasing exchanges in the sphere of education. He also noted the existing huge potential of economic cooperation between Lithuania and India. Free trade agreement between European Union and India, currently in its final stage of negotiations, will open new opportunities for Lithuanian exporters to get into the Indian market of more than one billion consumers. Ambassador has also presented the priorities of Lithuania‘s forthcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Laimonas Talat-Kelpša is the second Ambassador of Lithuania to India. The Embassy of Lithuania in New Delhi was established in 2008.
