CULTURE IS THE MAJOR ASSET THAT LITHUANIA CONTRIBUTES TO THE WORLD: THE GOOD COUNTRY INDEX

Culture is Lithuania’s major contribution to the common good on the global scale, argue the compilers of the newly devised Good Country Index that has been published on goodcountry.org recently. On the list of the 125 evaluated nations, Lithuania ranks #11 in the ‘Culture’ category and #25 in the ‘Science and Technology’ category. Its high scores in creative goods exports and press freedom are the main factors behind this result.

Lithuania’s contribution in other areas such as ‘International Peace and Security’ or ‘Planet and Climate’ is rather limited though, which leaves the country in the 69th place on the ‘Overall Rankings’ list.

India occupies the 81st position overall and features highest in the ‘Health and Wellbeing’ (#37) and ‘International Peace and Security’ (#44) categories.

The Good Country Index is ‘a new way of looking at the world,’ claims its author Simon Anholt, a prominent public relations expert and architect of ‘Nation Branding’ and ‘Place Branding’ terms.

Using a wide range of data from the U.N. and other international organizations, the Index aims to measure what each country on earth contributes to the common good of humanity, and what it takes away.

In total, world nations are evaluated in seven categories, each being divided into 5 subcategories respectively.
