FM Linkevičius to attend the ASEM Ministerial in New Delhi

On 11-12 November, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius will attend the 11th Asia–Europe Meeting (ASEM) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi, India, with the proposed theme “ASEM: Bridge to Partnership for Growth and Development”.

Participants will discuss important issues related to economic growth, sustainable development opportunities and challenges in Asia and Europe, non-traditional security threats as well as international and regional policy issues.

The Lithuanian Foreign Minister will deliver a speech on energy security and present the outcomes of the ASEM Seminar on Nuclear Safety that took place on 4 and 5 November in Vilnius. Bilateral meetings will also be held.

Launched in 1996, the ASEM is an informal process of dialogue and cooperation bringing together 51 partners: 29 European countries, 20 Asian and Oceanian countries, the European Commission, and the ASEAN Secretariat. The ASEM dialogue addresses political, economic and cultural issues, with the objective of strengthening the partnership between Asia and Europe. Lithuania became an ASEM member in 2004.
