Help for the victims of Kerala floods
In 2016 the memorial plaque in the name of the priest of Lithuanian descent Father Mykolas Šostakas was unveiled in the church of Lady of Mount Carmel and St. Joseph in Varapuzha, Kerala. Known to the locals as Father Florencijus, he lived and worked in this parish for 22 years (1751-1773), and was burried there. For the unveiling ceremony the parishioners, under the leadership of their spiritual leader Father Prasad, have organized a big celebration, which was attended in large numbers by the locals. The holy mass was held during which the parishioners got to learn more about the life and service of Mykolas Šostakas in their parish and about Lithuania and India relations.
Today Father Prasad from the historically related to Lithuania parish in Kerala is asking for help for his parishioners after the devastating, biggest in 100 years flood in this Indian state. Many people, who lost their homes are in need of food, medicines and clothing. If you wish to contribute, the funds can be transfered to the parish account in Kerala or to an account in Lithuania.
