INDO-LITHUANIAN TRADE GROWS BY 15.7% IN Q1 2014, HIGH-END PRODUCTS CONTINUE TO DOMINATE

The Lithuania-India bilateral trade grew by 15.7% in the 1st quarter of 2014 and amounted to LTL50.5 million (EUR14.6 million), the national statistics agency, Statistics Lithuania, reports.

Exports from Lithuania to India rose by 37.1% and amounted to LTL14.4 million (EUR4.2 million). Meanwhile, imports from India to Lithuania increased by 8.9% and equaled to LTL36.2 million (EUR10.5 million).

The high-end technological products continued to dominate the Lithuanian exports to India: lasers alone made 14.0% of the exports, while the spare parts to the lasers imported previously amounted to 13.3%.

Meanwhile, imports from India were dominated by pharmaceuticals (17.2%), footwear (13.4%) and plastics (7.6%).

In 2013, the Indo-Lithuanian trade grew by 41.2% and amounted to EUR 63.6 million. India ranked as 41st largest trade partner of Lithuania.
