INDO-LITHUANIAN TRADE GROWS BY 41.2%, IMPORTS FROM INDIA BREAK ALL-TIME RECORD

Lithuania-India bilateral trade in 2013 grew by 41.2% and amounted to EUR 63.6 million, the latest data from Statistics Lithuania reports. Accordingly, India ranked 41st among Lithuania’s largest trade partners, an eight-position jump from the 49th place a year ago.

In 2013, Lithuanian exports to India increased by 1.6% and amounted to EUR 14.6 million. India ranked as the 60th largest export market of Lithuania.

The main export commodities from Lithuania to India were: optical, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments (17.6%), electronic appliances (15.5%), iron and steel (14.3%), machinery and mechanical appliances (10.8%), textile fibers and paper yarn (7.7%).

Meanwhile, Lithuanian imports from India last year increased by 59.6% and reached a record-high EUR 49 million. India ranked 33rd among Lithuania’s most important import markets.

The main import commodities from India to Lithuania were: mineral fuels and mineral oils (23.3%), pharmaceutical products (12.8%), fish (8.3%), footwear (6.9%), iron and steel (4.7%).
