Inter-Parliamentary Relations with India delegation of Lithuanian Seimas visits India
Delegation of the Inter-parliamentary Relations Group with India of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, consisting of Seimas members Mykolas Majauskas and Vytautas Gapšys, visited India on 9–14 August, 2022. The Delegation visited Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore, the meetings were held with representatives of local authorities and companies.
In Delhi, the Delegation met with the Members of Lok Sabha, Ministry of External Affairs/Government of India, representatives of NITI Aayog. In Mumbai the meeting was conducted with the management of the Reserve Bank of India, while in Bengaluru – with the management of INFOSYS, biotechnology companies, S. Jaishankar, the Minister of External Affairs/Government of India, Ashwini Vaishnaw, IT Minister of Karnataka Government.
Indian government representatives and companies recognize Lithuania as a FinTech, IT center in the region and in Europe, and see the potential in cooperation in these areas. It is necessary to further acquaint Indian companies with the Lithuanian market, business benefits, labor market, higher education system, number of students, in order to assess the opportunities for development in Lithuania, as well as maintain constant contact with company representatives, invite them to visit Lithuania and fulfill the visits with meetings with representatives of ministries and associations. It is acknowledged that the opening of the Indian embassy in Vilnius will contribute to increasing business interest.
