Lithuania congratulates India on Independence Day

As India celebrates its 66th Independence anniversary, the leaders of Lithuania extend their congratulations to the Indian people.

“I would like to extend our sincere congratulations on the occasion of the Independence Day of India,” writes Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius of Lithuania in a letter to his fellow colleague Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of India.

“I am very pleased by the intensifying bilateral relations between our two countries and I am convinced that our friendship will continue to grow and the mutual understanding will help us to meet our goals in the developing partnership,” the letter reads.

Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius has also posted a congratulatory message on his Twitter account.

“Happy Independence Day to the People of #India!” the message says to more than 1,500 followers of the account. The message is accessible here.

The Embassy of Lithuania in New Delhi joins the ranks and wishes the people of India every success, prosperity and wellbeing.
