LITHUANIA ELECTS A NEW PRESIDENT
Today Lithuania is going to polls to elect her new president. More than 2.5 million voters will be choosing among 7 candidates representing the country’s different walks of life. The voting is also organized at Lithuania’s more than 60 diplomatic missions abroad. In India, 12 citizens have registered themselves for the voting procedure.
This is the 6th presidential election since Lithuania reestablished independence in 1990.
If no candidate collects more than 50% of vote during the first round, the second round will be conducted on May 25th, together with the elections to the European Parliament.
