Lithuanian Ambassador Diana Mickevičienė visits Bhutan as part of EU Ambassadors‘ delegation
On April 25-27 Ambassador Diana Mickevičienė visited Bhutan as part of EU Ambassadors‘ delegation.
The EU envoys had the audience with HM Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, the King of Bhutan, were received by the Prime Minister of Bhutan Dr Lotay Tshering, Speaker of the Parliament and the Leader of Opposition, had extensive exchange of views with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Finance, Agriculture, Energy and Home Affairs, members of Foreign Affairs and Human Rights Committee of the National Assembly. As Bhutan is graduating from LDC to middle-income country, the leaders of Bhutan have emphasized their readiness to continue reforms and green and digital transition. While all interlocutors thanked EU and its member countries for supporting Bhutan‘s transformation, they stressed the readiness of the country to move on from aid to trade. Incredible likemindedness on the need to preserve international rules-based order and to tackle climate change together. European side has thanked Bhutan for it‘s consistent stance on Russian aggression against Ukraine in UN General Assembly. Lithuania too has been supporting Bhutan in several areas, ready to share more!
