Lithuanian Ambassador meets Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh

Lithuanian ambassador to India Laimonas Talat-Kelpša met Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday, June 26th. The opportunities for cooperation between Lithuania and Madhya Pradesh were discussed at the meeting. Ambassador Talat-Kelpša is planning to visit the state in July.

Madhya Pradesh (literally “Central Province") is the 2nd largest and the 6th most populous state in India. It is located in the geographical center of the country, at the crossroad of India's main transportation routes.

Agriculture accounts for the largest stake in the state's economy, but Madhya Pradesh is also rich in diamond and copper and has a well-developed defense industry.

Chief Minister S S Chouhan has received a number of awards from the central government for the successful management of the state economy. Since 2011, Madhya Pradesh has been growing about 12 per cent every year, which is one of the highest growth rates in India.

Lithuania will hold the rotating Presidency of the European Union from July 1, 2013.
