LITHUANIAN EXPORTS TO BANGLADESH GROWS BY 3.7 TIMES IN Q1 2014

Exports from Lithuania to Bangladesh rose by 367% in the 1st quarter of 2014, as compared to the same period of 2013, and amounted to LTL2.3 million (EUR0.67 million), the national statistics agency, Statistics Lithuania, reports.

Meanwhile, imports from Bangladesh to Lithuania decreased by more than 90% and equaled to LTL135.7 thousand (EUR39.3 thousand).

The Lithuanian exports to Bangladesh were essentially dominated by two products: milk powder (50.3%) and linen (44.9%), while the imports from Bangladesh comprised: jerseys, pullovers, cardigans and similar articles (34.0%), twine, cordage, ropes and cables (30.2%) and yarn of jute (23.4%).

The overall Lithuania-Bangladesh bilateral trade shrank by almost 18% in the 1st quarter of 2014 and amounted to LTL2.5 million (EUR0.72 million).

In 2013, the Bangladeshi-Lithuanian trade dropped by 9.5% and amounted to LTL20.9 million (EUR 6.1 million). Bangladesh ranked as 90th largest trade partner of Lithuania.
