PHOTO EXHIBITION ON LANDSCAPES OF LITHUANIA OPENED AT THE EMBASSY

On Wednesday, January 29, a photo exhibition „Landscapes of Lithuania“ by Zigmas Jonikas was opened at the Embassy of Lithuania.

„Although we often talk about Lithuanian and Indian cultural and linguistic similarities, this time we are presenting the landscape of Lithuania that testify how the two countries are different and complement each other. Today we have this oportunity to showcase the richness of Aukštaitija– one of the ethnographic reagions of Lithuania: with wonderful lakes in different seasons of the year, unique horse raicing tournaments on the frozen lake of Sartai, Utena city awarded first prize of „The International Awards for Liveable Communities 2013", the world competition of local communities”- said to the guests, the Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of Lithuania, Diana Mickevičienė.

The collection of photographs on Aukštaitija region is the second exhibition organized by the Embassy of Lithuania in India to present the landscapes of Lithuania. There is a hope to continue this beautiful tradition and to convert the courtyard of the Embassy into a sort of „Little Courtyard Gallery“, permanent cultural space. An exhibition on the hillfort of India in Lithuania was opened in the courtyard as the inaugural event of the“Days of Lithuania in India“ in October, 2013.
