On Tuesday, February 11, the exhibition of Lithuanian stamps " The coats of arms of Lithuanian towns and cities" dedicated to the Day of Restoration of the State of Lithuania was inaugurated in Kolkata.
"The most obvious symbols of the state are often the smallest ones - coins, banknotes and stamps" Lithuania’s ambassador in India Laimonas Talat-Kelpša told the representatives of business political and cultural community of Kolkata gathered at the event.
"We are presenting Lithuania through the symbols of her that reflect not only our country's history, but also the diversity of regions and the hopes and expectations of the people” - said the Head of the Lithuanian Embassy.
40 stamps depicting the coat of arms of Lithuanian cities and towns were presented to the audiences of Kolkata. The exhibition was prepared by the state company “Lithuanian Post”, and the partner of the Embassy in Kolkata was a well-known local businessman Arvind Sukhani whose father Mani Chand Suhani is considered one of top authorities of India's philatelic movement and business. Mani Chand Sukhani personally attended the event.

In April 2014 a Lithuanian theatre troupe is scheduled to take part at the International Theatre Festival in Kolkata.
