Two medals in a day, again
Lithuanian ‘golden fish’ Ruta Meilutytė continues her remarkable performance on the global stage of aquatics. In the 4th FINA World Junior Swimming Championships currently taking place in Dubai, Meilutytė took gold this Tuesday after finishing 50 m breaststroke in 29.86 sec and leaving Viktoriya Solnceva from Ukraine (31.34) and Sophie Taylor from the UK (31.38) far behind her.
Her success was almost replicated by another Lithuanian, 18-year-old Danas Rapšys, who took silver after finishing 100 m backstroke in 55.24 sec. Gold went to a Greek swimmer Apostolosui Christou (54.87) and bronze to a Russian Grigoryi Tarasevich (55.33).The FINA World Junior Swimming Championships, also known as "Junior Worlds," is a swimming championship event organized by International Swimming Federation for swimmers under the age of 18 years old. It is held biennially, and has been held since 2006. The 4th Championships is held in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) from August 26 to 31, 2013.
