Ambassador of Lithuania presents credentials to the President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal
On 12 August, the Ambassador of Lithuania Julius Pranevičius presented his letters of credence to the Right Honourable President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal Mrs. Bidya Devi Bhandari.
After the ceremony at the Presidential Palace, the Ambassador and the President discussed the possibilities of developing more active political, economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries. Ambassador informed the Right Honourable President about the special bond between the Lithuania and Nepal – Lithuanian language, the closest to the Sanskrit in Europe, has similarities with Nepali language, which was also influenced by the Sanskrit.
During his visit in Nepal, the Ambassador Julius Pranevičius also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Industry, Commerce & Supplies, the Finance Secretary and discussed bilateral political and economic relations. It was agreed that both countries should search for potential niches for boosting the economic cooperation. Ambassador presented Lithuania’s potential in cyber security, Fintech, ICT, logistics sectors and assured that Lithuania is ready to share its reform experience with the Nepalese institutions.
Julius Pranevičius is the second Ambassador of Lithuania to Nepal. He resides in Delhi, the capital of India. Lithuania and Nepal established their diplomatic relations on 8 February 2005.
