AMBASSADOR OF LITHUANIA TO INDIA HAS PRESENTED CREDENTIALS TO THE PRESIDENT OF INDIA
On September 20th the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania H.E. Mr. Julius Pranevičius presented his letters of credence to H.E. Shri Ram Nath Kovind, President of the Republic of India.
In the meeting that took place after the ceremony of presentation of credentials the President and the Ambassador discussed ways of further strengthening the relations between Lithuania and India. It was agreed, that Lithuania and India share the same values, the countries are bound by the similarity of Lithuanian and Sanskrit languages. The growing number of Indian students in Lithuania is adding to enhancing the bilateral relationship further. The President and the Ambassador also discussed the ways to strengthen the economic cooperation.
During the conversation it was noted, that Lithuania will participate in commemoration of Mahatma’s Gandi 150th birthday anniversary, as his propagated values of non-violent resistance were very important not only for India, but also for Lithuania when fighting for independence.
Julius Pranevičius is the third Ambassador of Lithuania to India. The Embassy of Lithuania in New Delhi was established in 2008.
