Ambassador paid a visit to Mumbai

H. E. Ms. Diana Mickevičienė, Ambassador of Lithuania in India visited Mumbai on 13–14 December to explore and develop economic and cultural ties.

Ambassador held meetings with the head management of Mumbai Port Trust and IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry to focus mainly on the promising maritime cooperation between Mumbai and Klaipėda port in Lithuania, especially in the light of the Indian-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor.

Moreover, the University of Mumbai was visited where Ambassador and Prof. Ravindra Kulkarni, Vice-Chancellor, discussed possibilities of academic collaboration.

What is more, the Ambassador was shown the campus of the University where Antanas Poška studied Sanskrit back in 30'ies. He was a prominent Lithuanian traveler, who at the beginning of the 20th century traveled by motorcycle from Lithuania to India, and became the reference point for several generations of Lithuanians, interested in orientalism.

Ms. D. Mickevičienė also paid a visit to The K. R. Cama Oriental Institute to explore potential Lithuanian ties with Jamshed Jivanji Modi, a renowned religious scholar of Parsi
