Ambassador Talat-Kelpša presents his credentials to the President of Bangladesh

Ambassador Laimonas Talat-Kelpša presented his credentials to the President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh H.E. Abdul Hamied on Wednesday (7 January). After the ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Dhaka, the President and the Ambassador discussed bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Lithuania.

Ambassador Talat-Kelpša invited Bangladesh to tap the opportunities that Lithuania as member of the European Union provides in the areas of business, logistics, and education.

In 2013, the bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Lithuania amounted to EUR 6 million, of which EUR 4.11 million was Lithuanian exports to Bangladesh. The key products exported were aircrafts and their components, raw and processed flax, milk and milk products.

Bangladesh was Lithuania’s 80th largest trade partner in 2013.

Ambassador Talat-Kelpša has been appointed as Lithuania’s envoy to Bangladesh since 4 November 2013. He is Lithuania’s second ambassador to this South Asian nation.

Lithuanian diplomatic mission to Bangladesh is accredited from New Delhi, India.
