Irrfan Khan filming in Lithuania
A leading Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan is currently spending his days in Lithuania, where he is filming a Japanese TV miniseries “The Tokyo Trials”, the Indian and Lithuanian media reports.
The news first broke on Lithuanian social media, where a local socialite, Monika Šalčiūtė, posted a selfie with Irrfan on her Facebook account last week. The picture was quickly picked up and reprinted by the largest Lithuanian news portals like delfi.lt and 15min.lt (combined daily readership more than 2 million).
The story of Mr. Khan’s shooting in Lithuania was also mentioned today (September 8) by India’s largest English language newspaper “The Times of India.”
“Iffran Khan is taking 48 hours off, to fly down from Lithuania, where he is filming a Japanese miniseries, to fly down to Toronto, for the world premiere of Meghna Gulzar’s upcoming triller-drama, ‘Talwar,’” TOI reports.
“The same night [after the premiere] he will fly back to Lithuania,” says the article.
According to the press, The Tokyo Trial is a decade long investigation of crimes in the Pacific, during and after World War II. It is jointly being helmed by Canadian writer-director Rob W King, and Dutch director, Pieter Verhoeff.
In the miniseries, the National Award winning actor plays an Indian judge.
Lithuanian Film Center, a national agency working with foreign film production companies, says “The Tokyo Trials” miniseries, like other international movie makers, can benefit from the national tax incentives program providing sizeable tax deductions for production companies choosing to shoot in Lithuania. More information on the tax incentives program available here.
