Speaker of Lithuanian Parliament (Seimas) and a chess grandmaster Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen met with India‘s World chess champion Vishwanathan Anand on a virtual interview on DD India Sports 360, and shared many moves on life‘s chessboard in an interesting and engaging conversation. The interview aired in India on March 11th, the Restoration of Independence Day of Lithuania.

One has chosen to move into politics and the other has chosen to give back to the game, and each in their own way is enriching the other. One has benefitted in the game to become a world champion, the other celebrates a successful day in Parliament with a Palak Paneer in Lithuania!

Who would have thought the ties between a Baltic State and India are so encompassing, that they share chess, perhaps with it’s origins in India, along with Gandhi and similarities in language through Sanskrit. Just like Gandhi’s close friend was Hermann Kallenbach, born in Rusnė, Lithuania, so is this friendship between Vishy Anand and Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen born of an ancient game.

The two share experiences in life, chess, the future, artificial intelligence, a post pandemic world order and potential chess ties between India and Lithuania. Ideal show to watch with your friends and enjoy the two grandmasters share how losses have made them the successes they are today.
