LITHUANIAN PAVILION AT THE INDIA INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR OPENED

  On November 14 the Lithuanian pavilion was inaugurated at the India International Trade Fair at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. It is for the first time that Lithuania is taking part in the IITF.

This participation gives Indian visitors a unique opportunity to learn not only about business opportunities in Lithuania, but also about Lithuanian culture, history, Lithuania as a tourist destination and a place for higher studies. Many of the visitors were surprised to learn about the linguistic similarities between the Lithuanian language and Sanskrit yet to find out that Lithuania had fastest internet in the world or was home to 10 percent of the world’s scientific lasers.

14 Lithuanian companies have participated at the national pavilion of Lithuania set up by the Embassy of Lithuania in Delhi. Among them wood and food processing sectors were most represented. There were several wood processing and construction companies, food processing companies interested to offer Lithuanian cheeses, chocolates, breakfast cereals and traditional light liquor – Midus. Also solar batteries and biological wastewater treatment technologies as well as services such as pilot training, travel packages and business consultancy were presented. A big hit with the visitors were amber jewelry and souvenirs presented by the company “Azaga SP”.

Participation at the India International Trade Fair is one of the highlights of the “Days of Lithuania in India” program spanning over 6 weeks in several places of India. It has been organized by the Embassy of Lithuania in India to celebrate the Lithuanian Presidency of the European Union Council.
