"Sons of Babur" by Salman Khurshid released in Lithuanian language

The Lithuanian translation of India’s former Union Minister for External Affairs Salman Khurshid’s theatrical play “Sons of Babur” was officially released in Vilnius, Lithuania, this Monday (November 3).

High dignitaries from India and Lithuania, including the book’s author Salman Khurshid, were present at the event.

The Lithuanian version of the play was sponsored mainly by private companies and published by Lithuania’s leading publishing house, Alma Littera.

During the release, an excerpt from the play was performed by Juozas Budraitis and Martynas Nedzinskas, two actors representing different generations of the Lithuanian stage. Juozas Budraitis (74) is well known face of both theatre and cinema and during his career has received highest awards from Lithuania as well as Russia.

Meanwhile, Martynas Nedzinskas (29) is considered the rising star of today. He has already played more than 25 lead roles in various performances staged by the National Drama Theater. In May 2014, Martynas received the National Golden Cross of the Stage Award, the highest of its kind in the Lithuanian theatre world.

“Sons of Babur” is a drama play about the search of India’s identity. The book was originally released in English in 2008 and has since been translated into Urdu and Hindi. The Lithuanian translation is the first translation of the play into a European language.

During his visit to Vilnius, Hon. Salman Khurshid is also expected to address the students of the Institute of International Relations and Political Science, Vilnius University, on November 4, with a lecture “India’s Foreign Policy before and after the General Elections: Keeping or Changing the Course?”
