The visit to India of Mr. Egidijus Meilūnas, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania

Mr. Egidijus Meilūnas, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania paid a visit to Delhi, India in 2023 November 21-23. Lithuania-India political consultations were held during the visit, Vice Minister E. Meilūnas participated in the second India-Nordic-Baltic Business Conclave, met with Shrimati Meenakshi Lekhi, Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture/ Government of India, Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry/ Government of India, Shri Shantanu Thakur, Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways/ Government of India, R. Dinesh, President of Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), and Shri Ch. Banerjee, General Director of CII. Also, the Vice-Minister was present at the opening of Teltonika's third office in India.

Bilateral political, economic, and cultural relations, bilateral agreements, multilateral cooperation, EU-India relations, and regional and global security challenges were discussed in the bilateral political consultations.

During the visit, the focus was on bilateral economic cooperation, especially in the fields of information technologies, life sciences, and lasers. Concrete examples of Lithuanian business in India ("Teltonika", "Neurotechnology") attracted the interest of the Indians for further sectoral cooperation, where clear results could be seen. The matrix of specific bilateral technological projects could develop into a Lithuanian-Indian strategic technological partnership. Klaipėda port cooperation with India should also have potential, especially in the context of the India-Middle East-Europe economic corridor.
