TOI: Kestutis Vaiginis creates magic in Pink City

JAIPUR: The citizens of Pink City had an unforgettable date with the Times of India initiative 'Raasrang,' world flute festival held at Maharana Pratap Auditorium, JLN Marg on Saturday. The blend of classical and western performances started at 6.30 pm and mesmerized the audience. Some were spotted taping fingers on the beats while other listening with closed eyes, "The Times of India" daily reports.

The first performance saw the fusion of Sexophone by Kestutis Vaiginis from Lithuania, India's Sudhir Pandey on Tabla and Fateh Ali on Sitar. The trio played three compositions, two composed by Ali-'Autumn Love' and 'Impressions' while Vaiginis played his popular creation 'Seasons of the sea'.

The musical journey set-off with the theme related to the upcoming season-'Autumn Love' which encapsulated the varied moods of autumn from a new beginning to bidding farewell to the old. The second composition, The Seasons of the Sea, takes the audience to experience storms, peace, serenity and love.

Music lovers were enthralled by Pandey's electrifying fingers, tapping different beats emitting varied moods of the rhythm. Vaiginis long breath-taking swirling beats on Saxophone forced the audience asking for more. While Ali's calm and composed performance invited thunderous applause from the audience.

After the dose of classical and western music, came the foot-tapping seven member band from Hungary by Miklos Both. He showed through village folk music how showcasing the traits of a drunken man dancing and singing. The performance raised the tempo to a different level with the arrival of drunken man's wife in the scene. Both sang popular folk songs in his native language but still made a connect with the audience.
